The Groton Town Council on July 7 authorized submission of a Community Investment Fund (CIF) planning grant application for the Lehi Lighthouse Foundation, with a requested amount not to exceed $250,000.
Councilor Fitzgerald moved that the municipality authorize the application, name the town manager as the authorized representative to execute documents and administer any award, and commit the town to applicable state requirements; the motion was seconded and passed by roll-call vote 9-0-0.
Councilor Fitzgerald noted procedural language tying the municipality to state grant conditions and urged that a certified copy of the resolution be included with the CIF application. One councilor disclosed employment with an agency that receives such grants but said she has no role in reviewing or deciding on awards.
