Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris told commissioners he has incurred personal legal expenses related to a case being handled by ICRMP and asked the board if they had any objection to his submitting those invoices through the program.
"I have incurred some legal expenses for a case that's being handled by ICRMP," Norris said.
Commissioners did not take immediate action at the status meeting. One commissioner noted that an absent commissioner (referred to during the meeting) had been part of initial discussions and asked for that person's input. The board discussed options including scheduling the matter for a full business meeting or another noticed session so the absent commissioner or county legal staff could participate.
County staff advised that either the sheriff or a representative of the sheriff's office should attend the future meeting. The board did not approve submission during the status meeting and agreed to place the item on a later noticed agenda for formal consideration.
