The committee approved the ongoing funding 11–2. Supporters stressed the statewide distribution of shelter providers and the relatively small share the state contributes to total operating budgets; opponents said there should be clearer evidence of outcomes before expanding ongoing commitments.
Next steps: The language will be incorporated in the supplemental budget and the Maine State Housing authority will administer the allocation according to the statute and program rules.
