Cedar County approves DOT bridge agreement, appoints Marolf and orders engineer to investigate drainage complaints

At its June 30 meeting the Cedar County Board approved several administrative and infrastructure actions, including a federal-aid bridge agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation, an appointment to the county Eminent Domain Commission, and personnel action for a returning employee.
Moved by Supervisor Bixler and seconded by Supervisor Kaufmann, the Board approved an IDOT Federal-aid Agreement for a Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP) project (BRS-CHBP-C016(122)--GB-16). The motion carried; Supervisor Gaul was noted as absent for that vote.
The Board also appointed Jessica Marolf to the Cedar County Eminent Domain Commission in a motion by Supervisor Kaufmann, seconded by Supervisor Bixler; the appointment was approved unanimously. Separately, the Board approved Isaac Brennan's return to a MWII position at a wage of $31.44 effective June 30, 2026; the transcript records the motion and a unanimous vote with Supervisor Gaul absent.
In public comment, resident Dave Siebels reported a creek bed failure on Jackson Avenue and 125th Street. Arnold Lehrman raised concerns about standing water related to tiling and new buildings and asked for installation of a large tile. The Board asked Lehrman and Siebels to take the issues to the City of Stanwood and directed the County Engineer, Fangmann, to assess the complaint and report back the following week.
