Cedar County denies transfer to conservation funds amid budget shortfall; conservation job descriptions updated

The Cedar County Board of Supervisors on June 30 declined a request to transfer money from the General Basic fund to the Conservation Land Acquisition Trust and Capital Improvement Fund, citing budget shortfalls and no planned conservation projects in the coming fiscal year.
Conservation Director Petersen presented two updated Park Technician job descriptions prepared with HR Attorney Galloway and said the Conservation Board had motioned to approve those descriptions. Petersen also asked whether the Board would consider transferring funds into the conservation accounts. Citing recent budget cuts and the absence of planned conservation projects, the Board moved by Supervisor Kaufmann, seconded by Supervisor Bixler, to deny any transfer; the motion carried with unanimous approval.
The Conservation Board’s updated Park Technician job descriptions were recorded as passed by the Conservation Board and provided to the county for personnel records and implementation. The Board did not approve any interfund transfer at this time and indicated the current budget outlook prevents reallocating General Basic funds to conservation accounts.
