Dover Council Approves Series of Small Contracts for City Facilities and Maintenance

The Dover City Council approved a package of small capital and maintenance expenditures at its Aug. 7 regular meeting, voting to accept contractor bids for the fire hall concrete, new doors, computers, a culvert, and a new display board for City Hall.
Council members moved through several routine motions early in the meeting. Member Chelsie Kiekbusch moved and Member Jamie Putzier seconded approval of the prior month’s minutes and authorization to pay bills and accept the financial statements; both motions were carried by the council.
The council approved a $500 purchase for a new display board outside City Hall (motion by Kiekbusch, seconded by Putzier). It also accepted a computer bid from Tim Stein of 2CoolTek for $1,436.50 after receiving two bids (the other bidder was Boyd Stangler of St. Charles).
On larger maintenance items, the council voted to accept Jeff Peck’s concrete bid of $21,922 to complete work in front of the fire hall; members asked that the work be finished by the end of October. The council also accepted Andrew Bergen’s bid to supply two doors for the Fire Hall and three doors for the well house at $4,500 per door.
For road and drainage maintenance, the council received two culvert bids (Metal Culverts and Core & Main). City consultant Mark Welch recommended a 36-inch culvert, but council opted for a 42‑inch pipe and accepted Core & Main’s bid for up to $5,000 (motion by Kiekbusch, seconded by Putzier).
Mayor Dave Iseminger reported that he had discussed vandalism at the ball-field concession with an insurance adjuster; the council also reviewed incident reports from the sheriff’s office and praised the local police presence. Council members discussed park improvements, including adding lighting in the park bathroom, running electricity to the pavilion and installing a new light pole in the park’s southeast corner; those items were discussed but did not result in separate votes at the meeting.
The council approved a maintenance agreement with Olmsted County (motion by Mayor Iseminger, seconded by Kiekbusch). Members agreed not to act on the ball-field scoreboard at this time.
The meeting concluded with routine council reports and a motion by Member Putzier, seconded by Member Kiekbusch, to adjourn at 8:47 p.m.
