Resident questions multilingual signage and drop-off cones; superintendent cites student safety

During the public comment portion of the Nov. 20 meeting, resident Giuseppe Ricci raised two concerns about school-site operations. He asked why parking signage at school buildings is written only in English, Spanish and Arabic and said that if the district chooses to include languages beyond English they should include all relevant languages. He also said cones placed at Charles Olbon (CO) during drop-off are a hazard and urged their removal.
Superintendent Michele Pillari responded that personnel matters cannot be discussed in public forums, reiterated that the cones were placed to create a safe pathway for students during crowded drop-off and called student and staff safety her top priority. Pillari began to expand on signage considerations but interruptions prevented completion of her remarks.
The comment was recorded in the minutes and the Board said it would discuss the concerns internally and follow up where appropriate.
