The Walton County Design Review Board on July 7 approved three sign permits for Santa Rosa Family Dental, including two building signs and a monument sign for a 1.06‑acre mixed‑use parcel at Church and Highway 98.
Staff presented the applications and identified the sign sizes: two building signs of about 17.9 by 3 feet (roughly 53.7 square feet each) and a monument sign measured at 160 by 72 inches (about 79.8 square feet), just under the 80‑square‑foot limit. Tim, a staff member, entered the staff reports into the record and confirmed the property’s zoning and prior approvals.
Carmen Jones, representing Vintage Sign and Light, told the board the black channel letters will mount to a painted panel that visually matches the building’s wood grain; “there is a panel behind the letters that will attach to that structure that’ll be painted to match so that it reflects correctly,” Jones said. Board members’ primary questions concerned whether the sign backing is integrated into the parapet or sits above it; the applicant clarified the backing is a mounted panel rather than a roof‑mounted box.
No members of the public spoke during the comment period. The board took separate motions for each sign and approved the building sign (item 3), the east building sign (item 4), and the monument sign (item 5) in individual votes.
The approvals are limited to the sign details presented; board members noted they expect site plans and elevations to clearly show monument placement and how the signs relate to scenic corridor landscaping. The applicant or sign contractor is responsible for ensuring the final installation matches the permitted plans.
