Archie aldermen hear updates on water work, Pine Street, parks and upcoming cleanups

A series of routine department updates and announcements were presented during the Archie Board of Aldermen's Sept. 9 meeting.
Alderman Scott Kendrick reported that water-related work is scheduled for the week of Oct. 6 and that the job will require three to four workers for the entire week; he said no other work will be scheduled during that period. Alderman Tony Sattee said Pine Street is about 30% complete, that trees on Pine Street need to be cut, and that Steve Burton will perform the trimming for $800. Sattee also said the railroad should be contacted about relocating the crossing sign.
City Administrator GLark submitted a written report and reminded the board the Citywide Clean Up will be held Sept. 20. The board noted no fire-department report was presented and the police chief submitted a written report.
Alderman Mark Houchen said there was no Planning & Zoning meeting to report. Alderman Atan Lough reported the park slide has been painted; the Park Board wants to use the council chambers to host a pie contest for the Fall Festival, and new trash cans have been installed. The agenda also listed a Safe Streets update and an HDR-hosted advisory committee meeting scheduled for Sept. 24 at City Hall.
No new business was offered during the meeting.
