Archie aldermen hear department reports; table speed-limit and dumpster ordinance items for November

At the Oct. 14 meeting of the Archie Board of Aldermen city officials and aldermen delivered routine department updates and identified items for further review in November.

Chief Zaharsky submitted the police report in writing, according to the meeting record. Alderman Scott Kendrick reported that baffles at the water facility are installed and that a new turbidity system is expected to be installed within two weeks. Alderman Sattee noted that Mayor Pro-Tem Saltee had to remove his membership from the Mid-America Regional Council and said the city needs two people to sign up as members.

City Administrator Clark submitted a written report and, according to the transcript, relayed a realtor’s suggestion to leave the listed price on a lot on North Main a little longer. The transcript records election filing dates as read aloud in a garbled form: "December gth through December s}tn,2025"; the precise filing window was not clearly recorded and is therefore not specified in this report.

Alderman Houchen reported that Planning & Zoning had no meeting to report. Alderman Lough said bids to repair the basketball court are being solicited and that bids are also being gathered for work on a ditch, fence and sidewalk from the fire station to the other entrance.

The board discussed speed limit signs but tabled the matter so the ordinance can be amended before it returns for a vote. The public works building site is under review; the board asked staff to obtain a Coffett survey and a site plan and to discuss the matter at the November meeting. The board also agreed to discuss amending the dumpster ordinance at the November meeting.
