Monmouth Beach opens budget hearing, adopts amended 2026 budget and passes capital ordinance

The Borough of Monmouth Beach opened the public hearing on its 2026 budget at the June meeting and heard a summary from finance staff explaining that staffing and benefit increases account for this year’s revenue changes while capital spending remains tightly controlled.
Finance representative Larry thanked department heads, the borough administrator and auditors for their roles in producing the budget and said late-day state approval arrived the day of the meeting, allowing the council to adopt an amended budget. After questions and a short public comment period the council moved to close the hearing and passed a resolution amending and adopting the approved 2026 budget.
Separately, the council considered a capital (cap-bank) ordinance. The mayor moved to pass the ordinance on title only and instructed the clerk to advertise a public hearing for July 22, 2026; the council then opened and closed the public hearing and adopted the ordinance on second reading with recorded 'yes' votes from members present.
