The City Council approved multiple routine resolutions and agenda actions during the Aug. 11 meeting.
Resolution 064 of 2025 designates Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 as an official city employee holiday for 2025. Councilmembers said the measure is an annual practice ahead of Labor Day and adopted it by roll-call vote.
Resolution 65 of 2025 authorizes execution of a $50,000 contract under the Louisiana Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) to renovate the Criminal Investigation Division office at 200 Rapides Drive to create interview space, expand a cyber-forensics area and provide controlled evidence storage. Chief Collins described how the grant-funded improvements will support forensic and interview capacity; the council adopted the resolution by roll-call vote.
Resolution 066 of 2025 approves a temporary site license with Singular Wireless to boost cellular and internet capacity during an increased-tourism period (Oct. 3, 2025'1 Jan. 9, 2026) and records payment to the city of $5,500. Council members described the measure as standard for the holiday festival season and voted to adopt it.
Council also moved to remove Ordinance 029 from the agenda so it can be handled by resolution later; that motion carried.
