Council certifies completion of fuel system improvements at regional airport

On July 14 the council adopted Resolution No. 061 of 2025 certifying substantial completion of the fuel facility improvement project at the regional airport. Project representatives showed photos of new dispensers, a card reader and a new 12,000-gallon jet-A tank; staff said the project was paid 100% by FAA entitlement funds and the Louisiana DOTD and that KSA assisted with funding and design.
City staff explained that adding a second 12,000-gallon tank reduces the risk of running out of jet fuel during periods of high demand (crop dusters, corporate traffic) because refueling can occur from the second tank while the first is being replenished. The engineering firm and contractor were credited with completing the work and staff noted the project had been on the CIP list for several years. The council approved the certification on roll-call vote.
Staff said they will post project photos and details online and continue to monitor airport operations as needed.
