The Natchitoches City Council on Aug. 25 adopted Resolution No. 70 (2025) to appoint Steve Bayon to the Natchitoches Airport Advisory Commission, filling the unexpired term of Janice Bolton.
A council member thanked Janice Bolton for years of service and said Bolton plans to step back for retirement. A presenter identified as Ed summarized Bayon's credentials: he retired to Natchitoches after working as a CFO for Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative, has business experience and keeps his private airplane in a hangar at the Natchitoches airport. Councilmembers said those qualifications make Bayon a good fit for the commission.
The motion to adopt the resolution was made, seconded and approved by roll call. Council carried the appointment as written and the mayor was authorized to carry out needed administrative steps.
The resolution text included the appointment and noted Bolton's resignation; no further financial or contractual commitments were associated with the appointment during the meeting.
Council members expressed appreciation for Bolton's service and welcomed Bayon should he accept the post.
