After heavy snow, Fairhaven shifts services: trash pickup moved; Burrell Hall and library hours adjusted

Fairhaven officials announced several storm-related service adjustments and public events during the Feb. 23 council meeting.
An administrator told residents that townwide trash pickup will be moved to Wednesday for the entire borough to give DPW more time to clear roads and to keep trash cans off the street while crews plow. "Trash pickup is gonna be moved to Wednesday for the entire town," the administrator said, and officials said reminders would be issued to residents.
Council members and the mayor thanked borough staff, volunteers, police, fire and emergency services for storm response. A resident described deep snow that caused a DPW plow to get stuck and required a front loader to pull it out.
Police Chief McGovern praised DPW's response and compared the borough favorably to surrounding roads: "They did a really great job... our roads look better than the county roads," he said, adding there were no major power outages and only a few small branches down.
Officials also announced that Burrell Hall would be closed the next day and many municipal employees would work remotely (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) while phones were forwarded; the library would open later at 10:30 a.m. The administrator asked residents to contact the borough by email with concerns and confirmed the Habitat for Humanity ribbon cutting will take place at 101–103 Hendrickson Place at 9 a.m. on March 4, when the governing body will attend.
