The Fairhaven Borough Council on Feb. 23 approved its consent agenda, including temporary budget adjustments that finance staff said are needed until the formal 2026 budget is introduced and adopted.
Finance staff member Nancy explained why the council routinely adds funds under a temporary budget: "We are limited... in the beginning of the year, we can only take a certain percentage for a temporary budget. But as the year goes on prior to the budget being introduced and adopted, we need more funds," she said, adding the adjustments keep accounts funded so purchase orders and payroll can be processed.
Mayor presided over the meeting and the clerk conducted a roll call after a motion and second to adopt the consent agenda and the Feb. 11 meeting minutes. The motions carried with affirmative responses from council members present.
Council member Josh told the governing body the borough planned a $17,000,000 competitive bond sale the next day, calling market conditions "favorable" and noting strong demand. "Bids are due at 11," he said, and the mayor observed the borough had again received a AA+ rating; Josh confirmed, "That's correct." The sale was described as informational (no formal vote on the sale took place at the meeting).
The council also voted to accept the municipal court report for January 2026 by motion and roll call.
The meeting record shows the borough followed Open Public Meetings Act notice procedures (resolution 2026-13) and conducted the session via Zoom with public participation available remotely.
