Councilman Timmerman led the Pledge of Allegiance after the chair asked him to do so. The chair then read the meeting's public-notice statement, saying the session was called under the state's open public meetings law and that a sunshine notice ran in the Ridgewood News on Oct. 10, 2025.
At roll call the clerk recorded Mayor DePaola as present, Councilwoman Grace as absent, Councilwoman Sayers present, Councilman Ellis present, Councilman Timmerman present, Council president Argencia not present yet, and Councilwoman Chalino present. The chair asked for a motion to excuse Council president Argencia and Councilwoman Rice; a motion and second were made and the body voted in favor. The chair stated, "They are excused." (Chair)
The chair opened the floor to public comment and reminded speakers to come to the podium, state their name for the record and limit remarks to three minutes. Seeing no hands, members moved to close general comment; the body voted and closed the public comment period without any member of the public speaking.
The chair then asked the governing body to go into closed executive session "to discuss matters exempt from the public pursuant to" the state statute cited in the transcript and "by resolution 250-25" as referenced during the meeting. The clerk called the roll for the closed session with affirmative votes to proceed. Members were invited to remain on the public livestream until the body returned to open session.
After the closed session the body reconvened, confirmed no further business and voted to adjourn the special meeting at 7:50 p.m.
Attendance and procedural notes from the meeting were recorded by the clerk. No substantive policy discussion, public testimony, motions on ordinances or resolutions for adoption, or votes on ordinances were taken in open session during the recorded portions of the meeting.
