Missouri Valley council adopts new zoning and subdivision rules

The Missouri Valley City Council approved the third readings and adopted two land-use ordinances on May 5. Council approved the third reading of Ordinance 621, a comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted under Iowa Code Chapter 414, then voted to adopt Ordinance 621 on a unanimous roll call.
The council also approved the third reading of Ordinance 622 adopting Subdivision Regulations (citing Iowa Code Chapter 354) and then voted to adopt Ordinance 622; that vote was also unanimous. The ordinances replace the city’s prior zoning and subdivision regulations and incorporate an official zoning map to be maintained on file in the office of the City Clerk. Each ordinance includes language on transition of pending applications and a severability clause; both take effect after final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
Council motions for third readings and adoptions were moved and seconded in open session and recorded by roll call (Tuttle, Keizer, Struble, Meadows and Gilpin — all ayes).
