Emerson officials report CDBG grant extension, Park Avenue punch list and capital road work beginning

At the Oct. 21 meeting, Emerson officials gave several project updates: the Park Avenue Phase 2 project is complete pending a contractor punch list; a CDBG grant for senior-center doors drew no bids and the borough has requested an extension; and preconstruction for the 2025 Capital Road program has occurred with work expected the week of Oct. 26.
Engineer Ariana said contractors are addressing punch-list items so the borough can close the Park Avenue Phase 2 project and pursue final NJDOT reimbursement. On the CDBG senior‑center door project, the borough received no bids and plans to request (and has received) an extension so bids can be re-solicited; staff noted certification and CDBG specialty requirements may have deterred bidders.
The borough also held a preconstruction meeting for the 2025 Capital Road program and expects construction to begin the week of Oct. 26; contractors will notify residents and the borough will avoid work on Halloween and Election Day.
What’s next: the borough will re-solicit the CDBG door project under the grant extension, monitor punch-list completion for Park Avenue Phase 2, and carry out the capital road program with resident notices from the contractor.
