Council approves first-reading ordinances restricting late-night lot use and adding stop signs

Ordinance 25-22 would add regulations to limit after-hours use of the municipal/board-of-education lot behind the municipal building to address complaints from nearby Elmhurst Street residents about late-night vehicle activity and noise. Michael Foligno told the council the change responds to resident complaints that businesses were using the lot into the early morning and disturbing neighbors. The council moved the ordinance on first reading by roll call; the motion carried.
Ordinance 25-23 proposes adding multiway stop signs at Pulsa Avenue/Bank Street and Martha Avenue/Ray Street to address intersection safety concerns. Council members described the measure as "self-explanatory," moved it to first reading, and the roll call approved it.
Both ordinances were introduced and scheduled for final hearing on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. as required by local notice rules. Council members said they will continue to monitor compliance and enforcement through the borough police department.
