Neighbors raise sewer and access concerns over proposed Fraser Road pool; ZBA hearing continued

The Town of Thompson Zoning Board of Appeals continued the public hearing on a proposed private pool at 357 Fraser Road after neighbors raised concerns about sewer infrastructure, runoff and neighborhood impacts.
Applicant Isreal Lederberger sought a variance to place a swimming pool closer to the front lot line than the main dwelling. At the start of the item's review, Attorney Steve Vegliante told the board that the legal notice for the application had not been mailed properly and recommended the board accept public comment tonight but leave the public hearing open until the July 14 meeting.
Neighbor Jillian McMichael of 22 Autumn Lane told the board her primary concern was that sewer lines serving her house run through Autumn Lane, a private road and driveway, and that heavy construction traffic could damage those lines. McMichael also said she worried the large pool could become a community resource rather than a private family pool and expressed concern about increased runoff and the pool’s visual effect on the neighborhood.
Vegliante, reporting information from Town Water/Sewer Superintendent Mike Messenger, advised the applicants they must contact the Water/Sewer department to have town sewer pipes located before heavy equipment travels Autumn Lane. The board set a continuation date of July 14, 2026 and asked the applicant to provide confirmation of any locating work and to be prepared to address runoff and screening (vegetation/fencing) at the continued hearing.
The hearing was not decided; the board will reconsider the application once proper notice is confirmed and the applicant furnishes the requested utility-locate information.
