Elections office renovation underway; ballot-on-demand machines secured, Anderson Creek site under review

"We've already switched sides with the facility," the staff member said, adding that the renovation process has started but "it definitely will not be done this fiscal or this year."
On equipment security, staff confirmed the county has received ballot-on-demand machines and that they are stored in the old machine room, which is locked and secured. "We have received them. They're in our old room that the machines were in... we do have them, and they are secured," the staff member said.
The board also discussed a possible change to the Anderson Creek polling site. Staff relayed that the fire chief preferred the room adjacent to the parking lot rather than using the truck bays, citing concerns about securing equipment, limiting parking and the operational impacts of placing equipment in a bay that the fire department needs available during the day.
Why it matters: securing ballot equipment and selecting sites where equipment can be protected and operations are not disrupted are basic safeguards for election integrity and continuity of emergency services.
