Randolph County Board of Education adopts state social-studies textbooks, approves sick leave bank policy

The Randolph County Board of Education on March 19 approved the full list of state-adopted social studies textbooks recommended by the district'level textbook committee and adopted a sick leave bank policy the superintendent had presented previously.
Superintendent (name not specified) asked the Board to approve the complete list of state-adopted social studies materials proposed by the local textbook committee. Board Chair moved and a colleague seconded the motion; the Board responded "aye" and the motion carried.
The superintendent then asked for approval of the sick leave bank policy he had presented at the prior meeting. The Board moved, seconded and voted to approve the policy.
In his report, the superintendent also recognized Wadley High School's basketball program for reaching the Final Four and noted that the Randolph County High School band performed at the state capitol rotunda in Montgomery. Reading an email from Chuck Markham, the superintendent quoted praise for the band: "Your band students did an outstanding job today performing. I was very impressed with them and how they conducted themselves. They were great representatives for Randolph County Hospital." The Board offered thanks for the students and staff.
No further action on the textbooks or the sick leave bank was announced at the meeting; both items were approved and will be implemented per district procedure.
