Mount Vernon council approves pool pump replacement, cemetery GIS fix, patrol rifle upgrades and other routine contracts

At its June 15 meeting the Mount Vernon City Council approved a series of routine contracts, repairs and professional engagements.
Pool pump: The council approved Pleva Mechanical's Quote No. 314 for $19,223.70 to replace the zero-entry pool pump after staff cited failing performance that reduced pressure on the Play Nuk feature; City Administrator Chris Nosbisch informed Waters Edge on June 10 to proceed. Motion by Rose, seconded by Hansen-Player; motion carries.
Cemetery GIS: Council approved Amendment No. 1 to the WHKS Professional Services Agreement for $3,000 to address known discrepancies in the cemetery GIS mapping data using existing city mapping and drone GPS technology. Motion by Tuerler, seconded by Rose; motion carries.
Police equipment: Council authorized upgrading eight patrol rifles using Asset Forfeiture Funds at a total cost of $9,056.46. Motion by Rose, seconded by Hansen-Player; motion carries.
Solar/energy: Staff recommended a third option from Red Lion Renewables to add a solar structure to cover most of the LBC patio; the option requires a $42,000 city buy-down to meet the existing energy-rate arrangement. Council approved the agreement with the buy-down. Motion by Tuerler, seconded by Rose; motion carries.
Legal engagement and vehicle repair: Council approved an engagement letter with Ahlers Cooney to complete the development agreement with Pogo Properties LLC (condition of sale for the former Public Works shop). Council also approved a repair quote from Ascendance Truck Company for $13,047.28 to fix a coolant leak on the 2014 International dump truck used by Public Works. Motions carried by recorded vote or voice vote as noted in the minutes; Engel and Andresen were absent for these approvals.
