The Stockbridge Planning Commission on Feb. 5 appointed Vice Chair Laura Loomis as its new chair and heard departing Chair Daryl Anderson reflect on roughly 20 years of service. The appointment followed routine business and a voice vote that commissioners recorded as carrying with no nays.
The nomination to make Loomis chair was made by Village President Jill Ogden and seconded by Commissioner Jennifer Conant. Commissioners clarified that a roll-call vote was not required and that no other nominees were offered; the motion carried. The chair appointment was announced at the meeting and took effect after adjournment.
Outgoing Chair Daryl Anderson said the meeting was his final appearance in that role and reflected on two decades of participation in local planning work, including involvement on past master plans. He encouraged commissioners to pursue Michigan Association of Planning training and said he would continue to provide limited support and expertise.
Other routine actions at the meeting included approval of the Feb. 5 agenda and the Jan. 8 minutes (both carried on voice votes). The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
Next steps: Laura Loomis will serve as chair going forward; commissioners discussed inviting Village Council members to future planning conversations.
