Stockbridge council approves street-striping equipment, fence purchases and SDDA budget increase

The Village of Stockbridge council on Aug. 21 approved a series of equipment and capital purchases related to street maintenance and downtown development, and adopted a SDDA budget amendment increasing TIF funding for fire hydrants from $25,000 to $50,000.
Council member Howlett moved to approve payment of bills totaling $105,874.96; the motion, supported by Protem Cattell, passed with aye votes recorded from Morehouse, Fairbotham, Howlett and Cattell and three members absent. The council then approved SAWC’s recurring use of the municipal hall every other month on the third Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
On equipment, the council authorized purchase of a Graco Linelazer 3400 Standard Series street paint sprayer for not more than $7,000 (motion by Howlett, supported by Fairbotham). Two fence purchases from Clery Fence Company were also approved: a galvanized sidewalk fence for $2,944 (motion by Morehouse, supported by Fairbotham) and a galvanized fence around the hall dumpster for $4,356 (motion by Howlett, supported by Cattell). All votes were recorded as aye among those present; absent members were noted as Good, Ogden and Powers-Taylor.
The council approved an SDDA request to pour a 30-by-30-foot concrete slab to support bleachers at Veterans Park, and adopted an SDDA budget amendment increasing the TIF allocation for fire hydrants from $25,000 to $50,000 (motion by Howlett, supported by Cattell; roll call recorded as aye — Howlett, Morehouse, Fairbotham, Cattell). No additional funding sources or effective dates were specified in the minutes.
The meeting closed with scheduling of upcoming commission and council meetings and an adjournment at 8:27 p.m.
