Superintendent Mrs. Facendo reviewed the process the district followed to find and select the new principal and asked the board to consider the appointment during the May 10 meeting. On a motion by Mr. Kenney, seconded by Mrs. Thompson, the board carried the appointment by roll-call vote of members present.
Board President Mrs. McGinty read the board's public-notice compliance statement earlier in the meeting; the appointment was introduced as part of the Superintendent's report. The board took the item up out of order so members could vote during the open meeting.
The appointment was recorded in the meeting minutes and approved as part of the Personnel agenda. The meeting packet shows the effective date, salary and term for the 2022'023 school year; the district noted salaries will remain at the 2021'022 step and salary pending final contract negotiations in other personnel items.
The board did not specify additional conditions in open session. The board approved multiple other personnel items during the same meeting, including reappointments and tenure recommendations listed in the official minutes.
