Board adopts district goals, broad curriculum updates and multiple policy second readings

At its Sept. 27 meeting the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board approved district goals for 2022–2023, a wide-ranging set of curriculum updates, and second readings of several board policies.
The Board adopted two district goals: (1) investigate alternative academic bell schedules intended to enhance instruction, learning and social-emotional supports, and (2) create an organizational chart and assess administrative roles and responsibilities to ensure coherent leadership.
The Board also approved numerous new or revised curriculum guides across subject areas, including AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition; English II/III and honors variants; multiple math courses (Precalculus, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Statistics and Probability); music offerings (AP Music Theory, Instrumental Music, Songwriting and Recording); physical education and health sequences; world languages including AP Spanish, AP French and AP Chinese; and special-education LLD English and Math courses. The minutes list the approved guides by department.
Administratively, the Board approved the Emergency Virtual Remote Instruction Plan for the 2022–2023 school year and a Statement of Assurance regarding the use of paraprofessional staff that must be filed with the New Jersey Department of Education twice yearly. The Board completed second readings and approvals of policy and regulation items including #0143.2 (High School Student Representative to the Board), #0163 (Quorum), #2415 (Every Student Succeeds Act), #5517 (School District-Issued Student Identification Cards), #5722 (Student Journalism) and other listed policies and regulations.
Procedural note: Education agenda items 18–24 were approved on a motion by Mrs. Pattwell, seconded by Mr. Kenney, by roll-call vote of those present. The minutes record no opposing votes.
