Emerson Ford said organizers plan to kick off the weekend with a Route 66‑themed concert at Village Green on Friday, followed by a Saturday car and cruise car show with a planned route along Old Manchester Road and live music at venues across the corridor. "We're hoping to have up to 250 vehicles cruising down Old Manchester Road when all is said and done," Ford said, and called out businesses, clubs, musicians and student groups to help stage events.
Ford said organizers are reaching out to classic car groups and motorcycle clubs, and cited similar cruises in coastal cities as inspiration. The commission and other speakers thanked Ford and encouraged community participation. No formal city action was requested at the meeting; Ford asked the commission and residents to spread the word and volunteer.
