Planning staff updates committee on historic preservation plan timeline and permit activity

Planning staff briefed the committee on two standing reporting items: the city's draft historic preservation plan and recent development-authorizations.
Staff said the preservation plan, prepared with consultant MIG and the Wildwood Historical Society, will first be heard by the Historic Preservation Commission on May 28, then evaluated by the Planning & Zoning Commission on June 1 and presented to city council on July 13, with final completion expected in early August to preserve grant reimbursement eligibility from the State Historic Preservation Office.
Separately, staff reported that in the prior 24 days they had issued 70 authorizations ranging from small fence permits to new homes, and that a $50 authorization fee implemented about a year ago produced over $15,000 in the first four months of the year to support authorization processing.
