Rumson‑Fair Haven board approves leadership hires, stipends and staff appointments

The Rumson‑Fair Haven Regional High School Board of Education on June 14 approved a slate of personnel appointments and stipends for the 2022‑23 school year, including a key administrative hire and several curriculum and counseling assignments.
Among the personnel actions, the board approved the appointment of Anthony Giaconia as Vice Principal of Student Discipline and Attendance for the 2022‑23 school year, effective Aug. 15, 2022, at an annual salary of $148,000, pending completion of required paperwork. The board also approved Giaconia to serve as School Safety Specialist effective Sept. 1, 2022 (transitioning from the interim arrangement through Aug. 31, 2022). The motion carried as part of the personnel slate approved during the meeting.
The board approved Melissa Bryan as Supervisor of English and Social Studies beginning Aug. 15, 2022, and named Heather Mills Pevonis interim Supervisor of School Counseling beginning July 1, 2022, at a per‑diem rate. The board approved multiple teacher hires and long‑term leave replacements, including Amanda Moore McCaffrey as Teacher of Students with Disabilities/English and long‑term replacements for school social work and English instruction with stated effective dates and prorated salaries.
In recognition of grant work during the 2021‑22 school year, the board approved a one‑time $5,000 stipend to Christopher Alworth for application, management and maintenance of ARP ESSER grants and related discretionary grants that exceeded $500,000.
Other personnel items approved included the creation and appointment of a non‑aligned Fitness and Nutrition Advisor for RFH coaching staff (Robert Orrok, stipend $2,500 per season), summer counseling hours and student technology assistants, appointment of innovation specialists, coaching stipends and adjustments to the salary guide for named staff where listed.
The board approved Personnel items 19–50 and addendum items 78–79 on a roll‑call motion. The vote record for that personnel package shows Mrs. Halcrow abstained on item #29 and Mrs. McCabe voted No on item #29; the remaining members voted Yes as recorded in the meeting minutes.
The approvals take effect on the dates listed in the minutes, subject to completion of required paperwork where noted.
