Board approves out-of-district vocational placements, policy updates and professional development

The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board of Education on July 21 approved education items that include out-of-district vocational placements, shared-time program placements, and second readings and adoption of multiple district policies.
On a motion by Mr. Page, seconded by Mr. Kenney, the board approved full-time out-of-district vocational placements for a number of students for the 2022–23 school year, plus the cost of transportation. The list specifies student numbers and the receiving academies (including Communication High School, MAST, Biotechnology High School, High Technology High School and the Academy of Allied Health & Science). The board also approved shared-time placements with Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) programs, with listed tuition of $988 for specified programs and grades.
The board approved second readings and adoption of a set of mandated and revised policies, including Policy 1648.15 (COVID-19 Record Keeping for Healthcare Settings in School Buildings), Policy 2417 (Student Intervention and Referral Services), Policy 5512 (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying), Policy and Regulation 5751 (Sexual Harassment of Students), Policy 7410 (Maintenance and Repair), Policy 8420 (Emergency and Crisis Situations), Policy 8465 (Bias Crimes and Bias Related Acts), Policy and Regulation 9320 (Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies), Policy 9560 (Administration of School Surveys), and Policy 7510 (Use of School Facilities, amended).
The agenda also included approval of Kiker Learning to provide Google Classroom training (Title IV funds) and amendments to Huntington Learning Center contracts for Title I A tutoring and SAT prep; these professional-development and Title I items were approved as presented.
Later in the meeting the board moved to executive session to discuss personnel and attorney/client matters; it reconvened and adjourned the special meeting at 8:31 p.m.
