At the March 11 meeting the board received departmental updates and several community proposals.
Police Chief Ronnie Murray reported that the Plain Dealing Police Department responded to 288 civil and criminal calls and conducted 167 traffic stops during the reporting period. Street supervisor Kevin Whitton told the board that crews filled potholes and flushed hydrants to reduce an odor in the water system.
Residents proposed community events: Lenora Green-Myers asked the board to consider adding a car show to the town festival scheduled for May 9–10, 2025. Susie Byrd requested permission to host a farmers' market on private property and proposed a town clean-up; she said flyers have been prepared and suggested partnering with the local high school so student volunteers could receive participation points. Byrd also said she could contact Louisiana Main Street to help with town beautification.
The board took no final action on the event proposals at the March 11 meeting; organizers were given guidance to return with specific plans and the board will consider the items at a later date.
