Pineville reports double-digit sales-tax growth for December 2024; council accepts financial report

David Humphreys presented the City of Pineville's financial report and sales-tax figures for the period ending Dec. 24. He reported a beginning cash balance of $2,219,774, deposits of $3,104,118, withdrawals of $2,503,882 and an ending balance of $2,820,011.
Humphreys told the council the city's total sales-tax collections for December 2024 were $1,414,349 compared with $1,285,247 in December 2023, a roughly 10% increase (about $129,000). He said year-to-date sales tax is up about 6.5% and that Internet/remote seller collections have increased and are being captured by the city.
Council members asked for clarification about Internet sales tax and local impact; Humphreys said the city is receiving collections from remote sellers. Council member discussion was brief and a motion to accept the financial report by David Humphreys was moved, seconded and carried.
