Plain Dealing aldermen approve water-audit resolution, accept donated vehicle; multiple ordinances set for April 8 hearings

The Plain Dealing Board of Aldermen on March 11 approved two resolutions and scheduled public hearings for several ordinances to be considered on April 8, 2025.
A motion by Alderwoman Emily Jennings, seconded by Shavonda Gay, passed to approve Resolution #15 of 2025, which accepts the Municipal Water Prevention Environmental Audit Report covering January–December 2024; the transcript records that all members voted in favor and there was no public comment.
The board also approved Resolution #16 to accept a donated vehicle from the Town of Benton. That motion was moved by Emily Jennings and seconded by Louis Welch; the vote passed with all members in favor and no public comment.
Members re-introduced Ordinance #13 of 2024 (an amendment to the 2024 operating budget) and Ordinance #2 of 2025 (the 2025 operating budget). Both items were re-introduced with motions from Emily Jennings and seconders listed in the minutes; public hearings on those ordinances will be held on April 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall prior to any adoption vote.
The board also introduced Ordinance #3 of 2025 to amend Chapter 30 (Utilities) by adding Article IV (Meters), and Ordinance #4 of 2025 to add Section 20.5 addressing theft of utility service to Chapter 20 (Offenses). Both were moved, seconded and scheduled for public hearings on April 8.
No votes to adopt any of the ordinances were recorded on March 11; the April 8 meeting will include the required public hearings prior to any final action.
