The Pineville City Council on Sept. 10 accepted the Greer Road improvements project as substantially complete and approved execution of an agreement with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to fund a major rehabilitation of the Pineville Municipal Airport runway.
Council members moved to accept the contract of Regional Construction LLC as substantially complete for the Greer Road Improvements. "The road is very smooth," one councilmember said during the brief acknowledgment of the completed work.
On the airport, the mayor told the council the city is authorized to execute DOTD documents for a project valued at just over $2,600,000 to fully rehabilitate the runway. "It's at no cost to the city. It's 100% paid for by DOTD Aviation," the mayor said. Council members approved both the capital improvement program submission and the agreement to draw down DOTD funds.
Officials noted Diamond B was the low bidder on the runway work and the council had previously awarded the contract; the current action allows execution of documents to access DOTD funding and move the project forward. The mayor and staff said they have met with DOTD officials onsite and are prepared to execute the agreement.
The votes were taken by voice and the motions carried. The approvals put the runway rehabilitation into the next phase of implementation pending DOTD contracting and mobilization at the airport.
