City shows Powerhouse Building repairs and unveils pavilion concepts; pocket park project funded

At the May 8 Newaygo Economic Development Organization meeting, Schneider reported on recent work at the Powerhouse Building, showing photos of completed structural repairs and an overlook deck and presenting architect concepts for a future open-air pavilion.
Schneider said the pavilion concept is preliminary and "will depend on costs and funding and will span over many years." He said the immediate focus over the next 12–18 months will be the Pocket Park at 8 W State Rd., noting that the City has received a grant to assist with funding for that park. The board discussed possible utilities for the Powerhouse Building (water and electric) and the current location of the "Fish Heads" artwork near the park.
Board members also raised recreation ideas in the same segment, including a skate park and a potential skating bowl behind the skate park. No binding decisions or funding amounts for the pavilion were recorded in the minutes; Schneider characterized the timeline and scope as contingent on future funding.
