The Pineville City Council voted on Oct. 8 to award a contract for dead-end waterline eliminations and to adopt a resolution assuming ownership and maintenance of sidewalks built as part of federal-aid project number 8011194 near Pineville Elementary.
Public-works staff said the bids for the waterline project came in below expectations and outlined a near-term timeline: mobilization and work setup in about two weeks, with active construction expected within 30 to 45 days. Staff said the project will help reduce brown-water incidents that have affected some customers.
Separately, the council approved a resolution to assume maintenance and operation responsibility for the Pineville Elementary sidewalks as required by the federal-aid project terms. The motion to adopt the resolution carried.
What happens next: vendor procurement and preconstruction scheduling will proceed, and public-works staff will coordinate construction timing, traffic control and notifications to residents in affected areas.
