New Ashford board discusses town-hall repairs, transfer-station options and authorizes small purchases

The New Ashford Select Board addressed several items of old business at its June 24 meeting, including building repairs, missing deliverables and potential changes to transfer-station service.

Board members said the LiDAR scans for the town church have been invoiced but the scan package has not yet been received; a warrant related to the work will be completed by the end of the month. Separately, Select Board members heard from Keith Lacasse that carpenter ant damage was found when he removed the ramp at Town Hall. Lacasse said he completed necessary repairs, which caused the project to exceed its original budget; the board determined there are sufficient funds remaining in the Town Hall account to cover the additional cost. Lacasse will invoice the grant-funded portion of the project separately, and Ken McInerney will submit that invoice to the ADA grant issuer.

The board also noted that results from its most recent transfer-station survey were not captured in the record and discussed options for disposing town waste, naming Lanesboro and Williamstown as potential alternatives. Board members expressed that Williamstown appears to be the better option for an initial trial.

The meeting included two Treasurer-authorized purchases by motion: a $28 key lockbox paid with the town credit card, and Wi‑Fi components for the church and fire station for up to $480 on the town credit card. Both authorizations were approved.

The Select Board scheduled its next meeting for July 6 at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
