The New Ashford Select Board reorganized at its June 24 meeting, naming Jason Jayko chair and Ken McInerney vice chair and approving a wide slate of municipal appointments for terms beginning July 1, 2026.
The reorganization began when Ken McInerney moved and Mark Phelps seconded a nomination of Jason Jayko for Select Board chair; the motion passed unanimously. Jason Jayko then moved, and Mark Phelps seconded, a motion to name Ken McInerney vice chair; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board then considered and approved a long slate of appointments for one-year and multi-year terms. Motions approved included appointments of Kurt Singer as Animal Control Officer and Animal Inspector; Kevin Flicker as alternate representative to the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission; Chris Lamarre, Jane Miller and David Westall to the Board of Assessors; Helen Majchrowski, Mary Rojo and Carlanne Rancourt to the Board of Registrars; Brenda Church as Building Inspector; multiple cemetery commissioners; town inspectors for electrical, plumbing and gas; and appointments to the Historical Commission, Conservation Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals (and an alternate), Road Commissioner, Tree Warden, Veterans Services Officer and other municipal roles. The board also appointed Kopelman & Paige as town counsel and named the Select Board chair as the town’s procurement officer.
The meeting record shows several abstentions on specific appointments. Mark Phelps abstained from the appointment of Susan Supranowicz to a three-year term on the Conservation Commission and from the appointment of Harley Phelps III as a Mount Greylock advisory representative. Jason Jayko abstained from the vote appointing Lori Jayko as Town Secretary. Other appointment motions passed with unanimous support from the three board members present.
The appointments as recorded include both one-year terms (most appointments) and specified three-year terms for several commission seats. Copies of the full appointment list will be included in the meeting minutes and take effect July 1, 2026.
The board set its next meeting for July 6 at 6:30 p.m.
