Board appoints Timothy Fox as Chief of Police and honors EMS responders for life‑saving care

On May 29, 2025 the Montclair State University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Timothy Fox as Chief of Police, effective July 1, 2025. The motion was seconded and approved in public session.
Separately, at the April 11, 2025 meeting the Board adopted a resolution recognizing the swift and coordinated actions of student EMS members, university police officers and external responders who provided life‑saving treatment to a patron who suffered cardiac arrest on Feb. 3 at the Montclair State Ice Arena. The resolution names student EMS members, university police officers Thomas Dugan and Amanda Rusticus, and external responders including Weehawken police and St. Joseph’s Hospital paramedics.
The minutes record both actions as motions approved by the Board; the appointment of the university’s chief law enforcement officer was presented as a personnel action, and the resolution praising responders was presented by the Chair as an honorary recognition.
