Moonachie council asks for street-by-street cost breakdown after $669,000 road estimate

Mayor Vaccaro told the Borough Council on Jan. 22 that engineering firm Boswell proposed a road-repair program with an estimated total cost of about $669,000 for Henry Street and additional roads.
The request prompted questions about phasing and detail. Councilmember Surak asked which streets were in the worst condition; Mayor Vaccaro identified Knickerbocker and Carol Place and said two of the streets on Boswell’s list are residential. Council members discussed breaking the work into smaller projects rather than pursuing a single large contract.
Council asked the administrator and Boswell to provide a street-by-street price breakdown so members can compare costs and identify which segments might be funded by grants. No formal vote was taken on the capital ordinance at the executive meeting; the matter was presented for discussion and will be returned to the agenda with the requested cost detail.
The next procedural step is for Boswell to produce a per-street estimate and for the council to review that breakdown at an upcoming meeting before any final authorization or bid advertising occurs.
