Moonachie council adopts $140,000 ordinance to buy DPW pickup, plow and fire utility vehicle

The ordinance was presented following a certified notice of advertisement and a public hearing at which no members of the public spoke. The measure passed on a roll-call vote with all councilmembers recorded as voting in favor.
Council also approved Resolution #25-262 to transfer $21,000 within the 2025 current fund budget. The transfer moved $21,000 from Employee Group Insurance to several line items: $15,000 to Fire Department new equipment, $3,000 to engineering, $2,000 to police dispatch salary and wages, and $1,000 to recreation salary and wages. Councilmember Bauer moved the transfer and Councilmember Campbell seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous.
The ordinance amends the capital budget to allow the Borough to proceed with procurement and takes effect as provided by law. The council did not specify the timetable for vehicle delivery at the meeting.
The council’s actions followed provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:4-59 governing transfers and standard municipal ordinance-adoption procedures.
