Board adopts several policy updates, proclaims Youth Art Month and schedules reading weeks and school events

The Mount Arlington Board approved second readings and adoptions of policies on nepotism, chief administrator employment, sexual-harassment procedures and library materials, designated March as Youth Art Month, and approved Read Across America and Love of Reading weeks and school fundraising events.
The Mount Arlington Board of Education on Feb. 24 approved curriculum and policy items, set event dates, and announced school activities for spring.
The board designated March 2026 as National Youth Art Month and set March 2–6 as Read Across America Week and March 9–13 as Love of Reading Week. Fundraising and school-activity approvals included Decker Literacy Night (March 5), a PTO-sponsored 6th–8th grade dance at MAPS (March 4), and a community softball game scheduled for May 12.
On policy matters the board approved second reading and adoption of multiple policy and regulation updates: revisions to P0142.1 (Nepotism) and P1220 (Employment of Chief School Administrator); adoption or revision of sexual-harassment procedures and reporting (including rescission/abolishment of prior sexual-harassment policy formulations where replacements were adopted); and revisions related to resource and library materials (P & R 2530; P & R 2535). The board also approved the listed fundraiser activities and reported that fire/emergency drills were conducted with the Mount Arlington Police Department in January.
The Curriculum/Policy motion (items 022426-S-10 through S-13) passed by roll call, 7–0.
What’s next: Adopted policy changes will be implemented by district administrators and incorporated into board policy records; upcoming PTO and literacy events are scheduled per the approved dates.
