Mount Arlington board approves payments, procurement agreements and ESEA grants; preschool hours and tuition adjusted

The Mount Arlington Board of Education on Feb. 24 voted unanimously to approve routine payment registers totaling $1.38 million in general-account disbursements, authorized cooperative purchasing and insurance memberships, accepted 2026–27 ESEA grant awards, and extended preschool hours while raising tuition for general-education preschool students.
The Mount Arlington Board of Education on Feb. 24 approved a package of finance motions that included payment registers, procurement agreements, grant acceptances and a change to Integrated Preschool hours and tuition.
Board members approved the cafeteria payments of $23,989.60, general-account disbursements of $1,382,231.58, the student activities register of $736.80, and unemployment-account payments of $8,750.00. The board also approved January line-item transfers and accepted the Board Secretary’s certification of cash balances and account status under N.J.S.A. 18A provisions.
The board authorized district participation in OMNIA Partners (including Amazon Business) and approved joining the New Jersey Cooperative Purchasing Alliance (Lead Agency: County of Bergen) under N.J.S.A. 40A:11-11(5), delegating authority to the Board Secretary to execute the cooperative purchasing agreement. The board also adopted a resolution to continue membership in the Morris Essex Insurance Group for the renewal term July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027 and authorized the Board Secretary/Business Administrator to execute the required membership and indemnity documents.
Separately, the board approved canceling sixteen stale-dated checks from FY2023–24 and FY2024–25 and recording the amounts as miscellaneous revenue.
On special-education funding, the board authorized submitting a waiver for the Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) for FY27 because the district projects fewer than 40 Medicaid-eligible classified students, stating participation would not be cost-beneficial for the district in 2026–27.
The board approved extending Integrated Preschool hours to 8:20 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and setting tuition for general-education preschool students at $850 per month for the 2026–27 school year.
The board accepted New Jersey Department of Education approval of the 2026–27 ESEA consolidated grant application. Award amounts reported by the district were: Title I-A $65,202; Title II-A $11,936; Title III $4,784; Title III Immigrant $1,421; Title IV $10,000. The board also approved an ESEA amendment listing carryover amounts (Title I-A carryover $2,028; Title II-A carryover $1,185; Title IV carryover $10,000).
The full finance slate (items 022426-B-1 through B-16) was approved by roll call vote, 7–0.
What’s next: The preschool-hour change and tuition rate will apply to the 2026–27 school year; ESEA grant funding will be administered through district grant procedures and carryover amounts will be reflected in amended grant budgets.
