At the Sept. 3 Mountainside work session council members addressed a range of routine municipal items.
Parking and events: Council discussed charging $10 for daily parking at the library lot, with payments handled by police dispatch; staff will research automating payment at the municipal league conference. Members also asked Councilman Matejek to follow up on what requested PTO donations for the Fall Festival and Truck‑or‑Treat would cover.
Streets and contracts: The Borough Engineer will provide a recommendation before the next meeting on Contract 2024‑4 (Bayberry Lane paving). Separately, Council discussed repaving Route 22 due to faulty pavement material; no formal action was taken.
Grants and receivables: Council agreed staff will prepare a resolution to cancel an unusable receivable balance of $439.63 from the Municipal Alliance Grant. Council also said it will apply for two senior grants to sponsor senior programs and a senior bus.
Stormwater and facilities: The council reviewed sump pumps discharging mud in the Peach Tree Lane area; sewer inspections did not determine the cause and members directed staff to meet with a hydrogeologist for further assessment. A request to temporarily park buses in the pool lot for $2,300 was discussed and left for further consideration.
Proclamations and public comment: Members agreed to prepare a proclamation for an Arbor Terrace resident celebrating her 100th birthday. No public comments were recorded during the audience participation portion of the agenda.
