Kingsport honors local beautification winners and awards city communications team

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen recognized local beautification winners and honored the city communications team at the June 16 meeting.
Sharon Hayes of KKB presented the Kingsport Beautiful June winners, naming residential winners (including the Jarvey, Christian, Morlock, Hurley and Hills properties) and the business and redevelopment winners (7 Select Credit Union and a downtown redevelopment at 801 East Center Street). "I'd like to first of all thank BOEM Landscaping for sponsoring the Beautification Awards," Hayes said, and asked attendees to stand and be recognized.
Mayor Montgomery and City Manager Cimander also congratulated the communications department after staff reported five awards from the local Public Relations Society of America chapter for projects including the Main Street Rebuild communications campaign, the Bridal City 101 program, a Kingsport blog and promotions for the Twilight Live concert series. "It's always great when a third party recognizes the work that they do," the mayor said.
The board paused for public recognition and applause; these agenda items were presentations and required no board action.
