The Mountainside Board of Education moved into executive session at 6:32 p.m. and reconvened at 7:36 p.m. During its public session the board took several formal actions by motion and roll-call vote.
Minutes: The board sought approval of minutes from Aug. 20 and Sept. 16. Members discussed whether members absent from a prior meeting must abstain; the board resolved that members who had reviewed the minutes could vote. The minutes were approved; some members noted abstentions for the Aug. 20 minutes where they were not present.
Administration items: The board moved and approved administration items 1 through 4 by roll call (clerk conducted roll call; multiple members answered "Yes").
Budget and finance: The board moved and approved budget-and-finance questions 1 through 9. During discussion the superintendent said item number 4 would establish a contract with Care Plus to provide mental-health supports one day per week as a replacement for a contractor that could not fulfill its agreement; the board approved the package by roll call.
Personnel and policy: Personnel items 1 through 8 and policy items 1 and 2 were each moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Adjournment: After opening the floor for public comment (none offered), the board voted to adjourn and set its next meeting for Oct. 5.
