Mountainside council approves $6.6M BAN rollover, $185K recreation grant and routine appointments

Under Resolution 98-2025, the borough authorized application to the Union County Kids Recreation Trust Fund for $185,000 to expand local recreation opportunities; the council also recorded that matching funds of $92,500 have been appropriated in accordance with grant requirements.
The council implemented state tax-court judgments for 1128 Spruce Drive LLC under Resolution 99-2025, authorizing a refund of $7,231.81 payable to Ventura Mysiewicz trust account. Separately, the borough approved several individual refunds tied to recreation program registrations under Resolution 100-2025 (items ranged from $72 to $210).
Council approved multiple disabled-veteran property-tax exemptions and associated refunds: Resolution 101-2025 (Mr. Sanchez, refund $1,702.01), Resolution 102-2025 (Mr. Meadows, refund $806.68) and Resolution 01/2025 (Mr. Ehlman/Aylman, refund $1,499.53). Each resolution cited confirmation from the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and indicated exemptions are effective from each applicant's assessor filing date.
Appointments confirmed included Zach Jabri to the Library Board of Trustees (Resolution 104-2025, term through Dec. 31, 2029), a road-opening permit for 250 Oak Tree Road to allow a furnace conversion (Resolution 105-2025), seasonal recreation hires and pay scales (Resolution 106-2025; $15.75/hour to $40 per game), and two part-time temporary staffing interns (Resolution 107-2025).
The mayor recommended tabling Resolutions 108, 109 and 110 for later discussion; the council voted to table each. The Administration and Executive committee's compensation adjustments for borough employees were adopted via Resolution 111-2025, with some increases effective in 2025 and others scheduled for 2026.
The council also voted to appoint Davidson Otisonez as a volunteer fireman, and approved audited bills and claims totaling $439,606.36 to be paid when funds are available.
