The Mountainside mayor and council presented a proclamation on Dec. 17 recognizing Jackson Hyman for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
The proclamation, read by Steve, noted Hyman ttained the rank in August, is a lifelong Mountainside resident, participated on the troop's first Philmont crew, and led an Eagle Scout project to improve the Presbyterian Church of Westfield by clearing pathways, laying a slate walkway and building a bench. Jackson spoke briefly and said the experience was "a great experience" and that he was grateful to family, leaders and fellow scouts.
Council members congratulated Hyman and the mayor proclaimed the honor. The recognition was followed by community announcements and the evening's holiday program.
No council action beyond the proclamation was taken.
